There is a multiplayer mode as well, in which the player can battle outside of the main game against a friend in wireless duels, single or tag duels. There are different ways in which battles happen, either by journey advancements and asking others to duel or being asked to duel. The cool thing is that when the player talks to any of the characters, their image comes up on the full screen with anime drawings. Over more than 2400 cards and forty characters are present in the game, waiting to be discovered. There are characters from the anime series, such as Alexis, Jaden, and Chazz. The characters vary in appearance and personality. The game begins at the Duel Academy, where the player talks to the teacher, who gives them several instructions. The player has to give him a name at the beginning of the game using the PSP memory stick. The game begins with the protagonist, an unnamed character who wants to be a duellist. In the PSP version, the game is successful in bringing RPG to the Yu-Gi-Oh! There are cool characters, a clearer layout, more comfortable to learn, improved story, and includes 3D environments. The premise is simple: the player has to battle the opponent's creature cards with their own, and the one with the highest attack rating is the winner.
